Gaming Funds

I noticed this in the Times Leader today.

'Council will also vote on accepting $1.4 million in gaming funds that will be used to stabilize the former First National Bank Building at 59-63 Public Square. The money will come in two payments – the first $680,000 and the second $706,044.'
More of Emperor Leightons pet projects. This money would be better spent on putting lane lines on our streets, Instead of a building that he will probably sell to a campaign contributor for 8 cents on the dollar. 'Fiscally responsible' my A$$.

'Leighton said work on the building will include abatement/encapsulation, masonry restoration, roof repairs and window/skylight replacement in Phase I of the project, and in Phase II, plaster restoration, plumbing, fire protection, HVAC and electrical work.'. Yeah, put $1.4 MILLION into a project with NO CLEAR BUYER but not into the cities infrastructure. How about using that money to put restrooms on the river common?

'Whatever goes in there, it will take another three to four million dollars to renovate it.' Well there you go, ANOTHER 3 TO 4 MILLION DOLLARS that could actually go into making the city safer.

Casino money was also used for the Condos above the theater. How much money did that generate for the city?

Remember this money pit (just like the Sterling Hotel) when Leighton goes to sell South Fire Station.
