And now on to The Walking Dead (Season 4)'s ineptitude.
The attempt to raid a Big Lots equivalent. I would think that by now people would not stand around gawking while zombies fell through the roof.
Why does Glenn keep passing by all the batteries at the Big Spot.
Their pig died despite having an experienced veterinarian in the group. Why did nobody think to have Hershel do an examination of the animal?
They know most walker-fights will result in hand to hand combat, yet there was only one sword in the group and no axes, maces or spears?
These people have no idea what "patrolling" means. And they definitely have ZERO idea how to size up the objective, I mean they FAILED to notice a CH-47 (A HUGE honking 99 foot long, 10+ ton helicopter) when they did a 360 degree observation!! Oh wait, this group.... Probably did NOT do a 360. That would take thought.
Rick goes off by himself with an unknown person, who looks and sounds REALLY crazy. How difficult would it have been to get someone else? Where are the short range walkie talkies that are apparently free for the taking? If they can charge an MP3 player they can charge walkies, and why is ANYONE going outside the fence alone!!! Two people are four TIMES as effective as one.
Add to that the 'casual' way Rick treated the 1911 handgun he found in the garden.
He took the magazine out and tossed it into the wheelbarrow.
First off, It may of been salvageable (and even if it wasn't, it may have provided repair parts).
Tossing a weapon that may be useful = dumb.
Second, He NEVER cleared the chamber. Tossing a possibly loaded weapon, when there is no REASON to = VERY DUMB.
And why is Rick "farming" alone? Everyone who can should be helping. If just to get the production up, Not to mention what if Rick died going outside the fences ALONE.
Clearly, in a post apocalyptic zombie world, and with a crazy ass governor liable to pop up at any time, a fully armoured, bullet proof hummer is NOT a priority when you have a Hyundai. The 4 Hummers at the Big Spot should have been a HUGE priority, even if they would be rarely used.
If you set fire to two human bodies just outside a building, the smoke and smell would be noticeable from a mile away. Two gas cans in the background, that much gas and you'd risk setting the building on fire.
With the size group that they have - they should have offensive patrols walking outside the fence taking out the 1-2 walker stragglers so that there never is a large group of Walkers.
Traps needed to be set up in the woods, not only animal traps but anti-zombie traps like Morgan had last season. Its a war of attrition and they keep going defensive. And going defensive is a losing strategy.
The group KNOWS that anyone who dies will reanimate.
They have older people AND injured (injuries WILL happen).
They know if someone has a heart attack, stroke, bad fall, whatever and dies they will come back, Yet they aren't securing the cell doors!!!! No roving patrols, not even a fire watch!! BTW, I wouldn't 'lock' the doors because then you need a key while in the dark. I would, at the very least, have everyone tie their doors shut. Maybe use a carabiner to hold the doors shut like they did the fences last season.
The prison is far from any city (no city water system) so it must have had a well. Also they are running generators at times, so during those times they should be using the well to fill up the water containers.
Why are they using that vulnerable hand pump system that risks lives to clear every time it clogs?
Daryl fiddling with the radio while driving, Who Taught him how to drive? Lori?.... I mean its not like there were other people in the car too do that while he was driving, oh wait, yes there were..... or I don't know, maybe stopping to tune the radio (which may keep you in range of the signal). But that may back up the non existent traffic.
Roughly 2 years into the ZPAW and they take a rear wheel drive muscle car with street tires on a vitally important run.
Why? Because it can go 0 to 60 about 4 seconds faster than a MUCH more practical 4 wheel drive!!!!!
Come on. That was moronic if just because the 4 wheel drive would have more room. Daryl has been finding people (the latest that we know about was Bob about a week ago), what if they found more people? And it was a leave them to die or take them situation? What if Hershel was right and they found the vet pharmacy untouched? Treat it like the drug store from season 2 and have to go all the way back for the rest?
Also what time they would 'save' by taking a muscle car would be lost (and a lot more) the second they come up on a wreck that blocked the road, a road that was washed out or any situation that caused them to turn around where they may have been able to throw an SUV into four wheel drive and avoid the obstacle or attach a chain and move the obstacle. Damn. Those Hummers would be really usefull..... IF THEY HAD TAKEN THEM.
Hey Carl when a vehicle you don't recognize (Daryl & crew returning with medicine) comes up to the gate, Don't skip down to the gate and open it without checking it out.
Speaking of Daryl, Why didn't the crew (the vet school one) take at least one automatic weapon. It was an important mission, not your average run of the mill run where they could just turn back empty handed. They need to bring some firepower. Not every living person is friendly.
Why the HELL would you leave a large quantity of weapons out in the weather like that! In an OPEN LAUNDRY BIN NO LESS!
Hershel not wanting the kids to see him killing walkers, it had to be done, how long can they be sheltered from things like that? The kids have to learn to fight and protect themselves.
Herschel is working in an area where multiple people died due to a single sick person returning as zombie, yet no gun even though he has limited mobility???????
I really don't get the Gov/Phillip/Brian's plan for the prison. He wants it, but puts cannon rounds into the buildings. They can be safe there, but has the tank run over the fences (those are what make the prison safer). Kills Hershel which sets off a series of deaths in his own group (but numbers are needed to keep the prison viable)
The operator of the tank was a professional tank driver in the military, so we can assume he knew a little something about tanks. Yet, he fires the rounds (at point blank range), never getting near any of Rick's people, but destroying the buildings that he supposedly wants to capture and live in.

There is no such thing as a tank sneaking up on someone. The noise and ground vibrations alone betray its arrival. And yet, in a world with ZERO noise pollution, no one at the prison noticed the 50+ ton diesel monster parked at the fence until it lobbed a wake-up round into the prison tower.
How the hell did the chess piece (the 'Brian' king) get to the prison? The kid was playing in the mud, so she didn't have it and she would've dropped it during the attack if she did. Her mom wouldn't have bothered to bring it. And Brian/Phillip wouldn't have taken it with him.
Talk about hitting us in the face with symbolism.
Hey Daryl, bodies are NOT bullet proof. Especially rotting ones. Rifle bullets will go through cinder blocks, but not a walker (??!!!) because, like Axel, they suddenly become bullet proof?
Right. If zombie bodies don't stop Michonne's sword or the stakes by the gate or a bar thrust through the fence, they won't stop a hail of rifle bullets.
Despite having had a need in the past for a fall back point (it ended badly with the group on the move for MONTHS without one after season 2), and having the fences almost fail multiple times, knowing there was a massive herd out there on the move, and that the Governor was still out there (although they did believe him defeated), the only plan they made was to have a bus ready, but no plan of where the bus should go, or a meeting spot should someone miss the bus or be out on a run, for instance. So we're supposed to believe that this group of 'seemingly intelligent' people never thought to designate a meeting spot. The second half of this season has been them randomly wandering around hoping to find safety and each other. There is no plan, and what plan there was consisted of "get on the bus!", which most of them did not do.
Daryl & Beth, If it's just the two of you (especially if one has a bum leg), Why the HELL would you make ANY noise that may attract walkers? Beth be quiet and leave the piano alone.
Daryl it's been two years, by now you should know not to 'just open the door'. Honestly, I don't do that now and I don't have to worry about flesh eating walkers, just the random Jehovah's Witness (shudder).

The picture burning was beyond stupid. What if they got separated again through no fault of their own and Glenn needs to show the picture to people to see if they've seen her anywhere?

The sensible strategy would be to observe from a concealed point and take note of such things as
How many people appeared to live there
What kind of people they are
What kind of living were they doing
How were they handling the zombies
I mean at least have some idea of what you're walking into.
Hey, Rick. Here's a plan. Go in at night and do a proper recon (but then this group NEVER does, They missed a 100 foot long 10 ton helo that crashed on the Big Spot's roof).
And I'm pretty sure a recon would have found the dozen or so sets of butchered human remains (bodies and Georgia heat means SMELLY, BTW where were the flies? Those bodies should've been COVERED with flies and maggots) and the recon may have found the prisoners.
With that info a proper plan could be devised.
But No, this group had to sneak in and then throw ANY advantage that gave them away by walking up and saying, "Howdy Neighborinos".
