OK, Just WHY?

I saw this, on a gun forum, few months ago. I thought it was an April fools joke. A BAD ONE.
In case you missed it, It's two M1911a1's merged together in some kind of weird 'Star Trek' transporter accident.

For the Love of God, WHY?
This is nothing more than a company trying to make money off of the 'Mall Ninja' crew. It has ZERO use in real life. I'll go back to my 'plus and minus' evaluation.
Pro's
1. Two .45 ACP rounds going 'down range' at the same time.
Uhmm, That's about it.

Con's
1. Two rounds per trigger squeeze means just that. So half the training for the same amount of ammo (or you have to pay for more ammo)
2. Where are you going to find a holster? And if you do, it will cost you an arm & a leg more than a comparable 1911 holster.
3. This weights almost a metric ton. 4.1 pounds empty, compared to 2.4 pounds for the standard M1911.
4. I don't think Dwayne Johnson could carry this without it being obvious to Ray Charles.
5. You will need to have King Kong's hands to get a good grip.

IMHO, If you want a M1911, Find a GOOD used one and buy ammo. LOTS of ammo, Then train. Get PROFESSIONAL instruction. Buy MORE ammo and train MORE. Get more PROFESSIONAL instruction.
Honestly, this will still cost less than this monstrosity and you will become a more competent gun owner.
And this Picture is for those that need another reason to go to the range.

$8 million dollars

While reading the papers today, I had a wild thought.
Leightons folly, aka The Intermodel center, was supposed to cost $12 million.
It ended up costing at least $27 million.
We still owe $7 million. Which means that we've overpaid for that worthless craptacular parking garage about $8 million SO FAR (hey that's roughly $1 million per year Leighton has been mayor)!
What could our city have done with that $8 million?
Two things jump out at me, more cops and more firemen.

And what's up with the super Secret Squirrel meetings? They know several watchdog groups are interested in this whole parking lot fiasco. So what do the dictator and his men do? Closed door meeting. That's not going to alienate the public.

And like the fat kid in a playground, he comes of with the threat because the WB parking authority shot down his 'get my friends richer' plan. What threat you ask. This one, "But Leighton said he favored looking into forming a new municipal authority that would oversee all city parking assets."
Can't you picture it, "do it my way or I'm taking my ball and going home!"

Riverfest

Once again our dictator has shown that he doesn't care about public safety.
Last years Riverfest had an overtime engine there to ensure 'public safety', actually it was there to save his ass when he overturned the boat to get his face on the news again. Free publicity. This year, no overtime engine. Why, you ask? Because this isn't an election year, so no need for free publicity, no need to capsize his own boat, Therefore no need for the overtime engine.

Remember He's much more important than we are.

A 'Thank you' to Tony George

LAG towing is back in the news, AGAIN. Mainly because Councilman Tony George has taken a stand against Leo Glodzik's blatant ignoring of the specifics of the towing contract.

Here's a link to a previous post about some of the things Leo ignores that haven't made the papers.
And a short list of newspaper articles of contract disputes that did make the news.

Dessoye: LAG Towing’s profits not my business

Critical remarks target Wilkes-Barre's towing operator

Wilkes-Barre towing contract not enforced

And there are others that are no longer available on the Times Leader website.

Even with catching Leo in lies about his towing charges, He won't be fired. He contributes to Leightons campaigns. What lies?

Glodzik said he never overcharged anyone from his standard tow rate of $175.

(Thanks to 'Wake Up Wilkes Barre'for the scan)
And there are a large amount of people who have come forward, to tell about $400 to $600 dollar tows, which didn't require 'special equipment'. I've never seen LAG use any.

I don't think anything will be done. Our council (even with Councilman George standing up for us) is a toothless dog. They can do..... NOTHING. This will be put out to pasture with JJ's charging $300/hour (even though ex-judge Ciavarella's attorneys, Flora and Ruzzo were paid $75 per hour by the government) and Leighton's $29 million parking garage that was supposed to cost $12 million.

Another Meth house

Drug agents raid suspected meth lab in Wilkes-Barre

Another Meth house in SOUTH Wilkes-Barre. 4 out of 5 (in less than a year) have been SOLIDLY in Engine 3's territory. This 5th one is right on the line between Engine 1 and 3.

But don't worry the mayor has only cut the fire department by 5 men per shift and 2 Engines and wants more.

Hey isn't there a school or 2 REALLY close? And isn't there a daycare very close by? Like a stones throw?
I also seem to remember that even casual contact with Meth residue can be EXTREMELY toxic.

Not that the mayor will do anything to make our children safer. I mean one of the first three (Back in June 2011) was across from a city park. And did public safety go up since?

But don't worry, the mayor has a state-of-the-art security system to protect himself and his family. So don't you worry.

The dictator says it himself
"I would never, never gamble with the safety of residents visitors or guests," Oct 5 2004 (WNEP)
That is EXACTLY what he is doing.

"With the location of three city fire houses - Hollenback at the city's north end, headquarters near center city and the Parrish and High Street station on the city's southern border - the department can respond promptly to all calls" Oct 27, 2008 (The Times Leader) Not with 2 Engines we can't and this proves he knows it.

"The new station will cover the north end of the city. Headquarters will cover center City and the other station will take care of the south. In turn, the residents of the city and firefighters who protect us will be safer and better equipped" June 8, 2005 (WNEP)

And then he cuts our numbers. Right around the time his Intermodel center was going up in cost by 225%. Yeah, he's not sacrificing your safety for his pet projects.
